What This Service Involves

Post-and-beam framing uses fewer, larger members to carry loads, opening up interiors and putting handsome timber on display. We size posts, beams, and connections to the engineer's numbers, then fit them with concealed steel or traditional joinery depending on the look you want. Because the wood is visible, we select and finish each piece for grain and consistency, protecting it from the moisture swings common in Puget Sound. Proper bearing, uplift connections, and seismic detailing keep the exposed frame both beautiful and structurally sound. The finished result reads as architecture, not just structure.

1) Choose timber species, sizing, and connection style with you; 2) Set posts on engineered bases with correct uplift anchors; 3) Raise beams and fit concealed steel or timber joinery; 4) Finish and seal exposed members, then inspect the frame

Best Time of Year

Milled timbers are best set during drier stretches to control moisture and finishing, though we can stage delivery to protect wood in any season.
